No tickets required… A community inspired, grassroots blues event.
Julian Fauth and Ken Yoshioka fell in love with blues as youngsters. They came to Toronto in the mid-1990s and met in Kensington Market in 1997. They have often performed together since including weekly in the city. Both are soulful singers and song-writers and knowledgeable interpreters of traditional blues and gospel. Julian’s inspiration came from the pre-war barrelhouse blues of people like Roosevelt Sykes, Big Maceo and Memphis Slim. Ken has closely studied the great harmonica blues masters, the two Sonny Boy Williamsons and Big and Little Walters.
Seasoned by years of playing together, Ken and Julian complement each other very well and present a dynamic take on the blues that is rooted in the tradition but interacts with it in imaginative ways.
